Sitting in front of her computer, looking through the various job websites intensely, Jessica leaned back.  Taking off her reading glasses she rubbed her nose in-between her eyes.  “What am I going to do for money?  The job market for an educational psychologist was so high when I entered Grad School.  But now I can’t find a job if I tried to bribe the school district,” thought Jessica Holms.

Sighing, Jessica went back to looking for a job as a school psychologist.  But it felt hopeless too fine a job as a school counselor.   Her local school district was downsizing its work force, therefore, had a hiring freeze for the rest of the school year.  The hiring freeze forced Jessica to start broadening her search to school districts farther and farther away from her home in Chicago, Illinois.

“Ugh, I can’t take this much longer,’ said Jessica.  ‘Maybe I can at least get a job that allows me to have some income until I get a job as a school psychologist.”

Thinking, in a last ditch effort for the day, that Craigslist would at least have a job or two that would give her a short term job for cash.  Going through the various sections of job opportunities with no success Jessica clicked on the ‘biotech/science’ section under ‘jobs’.  Scrolling through the most recent job postings she saw a job posting titled “Need money now?  I can pay you a $1,000 now (upfront) for qualified persons and another $3,500 after the completion of the program.”

Clicking on the link, Jessica read about how that the program lasted for 3 months and required a complete commitment to the program.  It was a program that was funded through University of Illinois.  That on top of the extra $4,500 payment, their expenses would be paid for with no cost to the participant during their trial.  Just contact Dr. Roberts at DrRoberts15@Uofill.edu with your intention of interest to commit to the project and a short 1-2 page description of yourself.

Thinking she had nothing to lose, Jessica emailed Dr. Roberts about the program, with the 2 page description about herself.  Figuring that that at least in the immediate future that her expenses would be paid for Jessica talked about how excited she was at the prospect of being a part of the program.  After sending the email, Jessica shut down her computer.  Looking at the clock on her bed stand she saw that it was nearly 11 pm at night.  Yawning, Jessica thought that she should just call it a night.

Quickly changing into an oversized white t-shirt that reached down to her mid-thighs, while keeping her bra and panties on, Jessica jumped into bed.  Sleep came quickly for Jessica because she was a girl who never brought her regrets to bed or kept her mind racing with second guesses.

The next morning Jessica’s alarm beeped loudly.  Waking her up, Jessica groggily looked up at her alarm clock.  It read 9:00 am in the morning.  Hitting the alarm clock off switch Jessica just laid her head against the pillow, it was Saturday morning and Jessica had nothing planned for the day.  So she figured she could just sleep in a little more that day.  Dozing off, Jessica slept dreamlessly.

Waking up, this time feeling refreshed, Jessica looked up at her clock.  It read 11:34 am.  Blinking several times Jessica threw her bed covers over to one side and got out of bed.  Stretching, Jessica decided to check her email before starting another day of finding a job.  Sitting down in front of her Laptop, Jessica turned on the computer.  Waiting for several moments for the computer to start she clicked on the internet sign and clicked her email link on google.  Scrolling through her emails Jessica saw an email from Dr. Roberts.  Excited about the prospects of having a job she opened the email.

It read, “Hello, Ms. Holms.  I’m Dr. Roberts, lead biological researcher at University of Illinois.  I wish to welcome you onto the team.  Going through your interest and description of yourself I think you will make an excellent candidate for the program.  If you accept I will be seeing you today (Saturday) at 2:30 pm in the science building, room 213.  If you are not here at that time I will take it as you have not taken the job.  Thank you for your time and effort.  Dr. Roberts.”

“Oh shit!  I have to get going or I won’t be able to get there on time.  The University is over an hour away,” said Jessica as she bolted up and ran to the shower.

An hour later Jessica ran out the front door; showered, basic make-up, and basic skinny jeans shorts and white V-neck undershirt on.  Jumping into her car, Jessica started it and drove off towards the University of Illinois.  Nearly an hour and half later Jessica rolled on the campus of University of Illinois.  Taking another 15 minutes to find parking she ran towards the science building.  Making it to the science building quickly, Jessica looked at the building’s directory.  Finding Dr. Roberts name, his room being on the 2nd floor, she took the stairs up to the 2nd floor and towards his room.  Walking up to his room she looked at her watch.  Seeing that it was 2:27 pm Jessica knocked on the door.

“Come in,” said a male voice.

Walking in Jessica saw a cluttered office space with a desk in the center, with a dark haired man who could have easily passed as the classic nerd sitting down at it reading some papers intently.

“Can I help you?” he asked without even looking up.

“Um, I’m here for an appointment with a Dr. Roberts,’ said Jessica nervously.  ‘It was supposed to be at 2:30.”

Looking up from the papers he was looking at he looked at her intensely, then at his watch and back up at her.  Looking her over, he saw an athletically thin woman who had natural strawberry red curly shoulder length hair, dark brown almond shaped eyes, very fair smooth skin, who stood about 5’ 7”.

“Oh, I’m sorry.  Time got away from me.  You must be Ms. Holms,’ said the man as he got up and walked up to Jessica, offering his hand.  ‘I’m Dr. Roberts and I’m the leader of the project.”

Accepting his hand, Jessica shook his hand.  Letting go she said, “Hi, Dr. Roberts.  Yes, I’m Miss Holms.  But I prefer to be called Jessica.  So, what exactly is this experiment about? I’m curious.”

Smiling, Dr. Roberts said, “Curious aren’t we?  Well it is a human manipulation experiment.  We test human DNA and its response to ‘changes’ and how it can help humankind.  It is perfectly safe and you will be well compensated for your time.  Reading your two page report about yourself I think you will be an ideal candidate for the program.”

“I really can use the money.  It is hard enough for me to find a more permanent job, let alone any job now a days,” said Jessica.

“Well then, we certainly can accommodate you.  If you don’t mind I would like to start the experiment immediately.  The sooner we start the better.  If that is ok with you that is,” said Dr. Roberts.

“I guess there is nothing like today to start something new,” said Jessica.

“Good to hear,’ said Dr. Roberts as he walked back behind his desk.  He opened a drawer and took out a baggie and several pages of documents.  In it lied many green pills, filling up the baggie almost to the top.  Pulling out a pen from his breast pocket he said, ‘Here, if you could sign this we can begin. It’s just a bunch of legal statements saying that you willing and of sound mind, accepts full responsibility of this assignment and expects to complete the experiment until the date shown.”

Briefly looking through the legal document Jessica figured it was all straight forward.  So she signed it and handed the document back to Dr. Roberts.

Smiling, Dr. Roberts opened the baggie, took out two pills and handed them to Jessica, “Here are the pills you should take to start the experiment.  Because of the rules I can’t tell you if they are placebos or real pills that could change your body in ways you couldn’t imagine.  But if you choose to take them I bet you will not regret it.  If you would like some privacy there is a staff woman’s bathroom down the hall and to your left.”

Looking up at the man, Jessica said, “I understand.  Thank you. I’ll be right back.”

“Good,’ he said.  ‘Here is the $1,000 up front.” As Dr. Roberts placed the money on his desk.

Jessica grabbed the two pills and the money and then smiled at Dr. Roberts.  Pocketing the money she looked up to Dr. Roberts and smiled.  She walked out of the room and down the hall to the bathroom.

Jessica found her way to the girls’ bathroom and entered.  Going up to the mirror above the four sinks she looked herself one over.  Sighing, she decided she would trust that the doctor was trustworthy.  Looking at the pills in her hand, Jessica raised them to her mouth and swallowed the pills.  Signing, she just looked at herself in the mirror.  Staring for moments, expecting something but found nothing different.  “It looks like I got the placebo.  I guess I’ll have the easy job for the next three months,” thought Jessica.

Looking at herself in the mirror for another minute.  She didn’t see anything that could have possibly changed on her upper body.  It was the same but once she got to her legs, she saw her legs had grown coarse hair.  Gasping, Jessica’s eyes became wide with surprise.

Stepping back a few feet to gain a better look at her legs she saw black coarse hair taking over her legs.  Her jean shorts started to feel like they were getting very tight in her hip and butt region.  But before she could do anything about it her button snapped off and flew away and her zipper unzipped quickly.  Wide eyed, Jessica could only stare on at her reflection.

Several seconds went by and she saw her hips and butt continue to grow in size.  Her shorts felt so tight that they seemed to be cutting off the circulation to her lower body.  A second later her shorts ripped apart, falling to the ground in pieces.  Her exposed lower private parts seemed to be covered in the same midnight black colored hair that her legs were covered in.  Her lower half continued to grow in size and girth.  Feeling her feet become numb, Jessica looked down in astonishment.  What she saw was beyond belief.  Her feet were changing, hardening, darkening into a round like mound.  Moments later, her feet seemed to become completely round and hard, almost, no exactly, like horse hooves.

Gasping for air, Jessica forced herself to look back at her expanding rear.  It seemed to have grown several feet behind her.  Her balance seemed to be centered on her growing rear.  Her hips seemed to be growing at a slower pace.  Before long, Jessica felt like she was going to fall backwards.  As she started to actually fall backwards, something landed on the ground that centered her balance.  Looking back Jessica saw two ‘extra’ legs that extended to the floor, but they weren’t normal human legs, they were rear horse legs.  Her rear continued to grow outwards and take a more equine form.  She felt like her spine was becoming elongated and a new set of lungs seemed to press outwards.

A few minutes later, of continuous growth by her lower body, things seemed to end.  Looking in the mirror Jessica seemed to be in a state of shock.  All she could do was staring at her reflection.

A moment later, Dr. Roberts walked into the women’s restroom.  Looking at him as if he was a demon, Jessica could only utter, “I’m a…I’m a…I’m a…”

“You’re a centaur sweetie,’ said Dr. Roberts.  ‘And by the looks of it you are a beauty.  Your fair skin goes well with the black horse half of you.  It is actually kind of cute that your hind legs have white socks on them comparatively to your human half.  I guestimate that you look like you are just over seven feet tall, nearly 7’ 5” tall.  Your human half looks unchanged but your horse half looks fully healthy and is what give you your height.”

“What kind of experiment is this!?” whaled Jessica, knowing now she was a centauress.  Rearing up like it was the most natural thing, Jessica continued, “I’m a freak.  How could you? How can I live like this for three months!?”
